Derek Bellew

Derek has been a partner at Veale Wasbrough
for many years and is a commercial lawyer by
training, specialising in partnership work. He
has practised in the GP sector for over 20 years
and is an expert on the legal issues affecting
general practice, having written articles and lectured extensively on the subject. He is a former chairman and managing partner of Veale Wasbrough and is a Chartered Arbitrator. This rich background of experience, combined with his specialist legal knowledge assists in giving the right pragmatic advice to GP partners.
He is a passionate golfer and spends much of his time in the Mendips pursuing the "perfect round" and club trophies. He has a growing interest in exotic international travel.
Ben Willis

Ben is a partner in the Real Estate group at
Veale Wasbrough, specialising in commercial
property. He is the head of the healthcare
sector and his main areas of expertise are in
property management and property development.
He has a specific interest in Primary Care, having been involved in the development of over 50 new GP surgeries and has spoken on the subject at a number of seminars.
He is the only lawyer in the family for generations (and is therefore regarded as something of a "black sheep") and retains a keen interest in sport, occasionally turning out for the veterans team of his rugby club and when work commitments and his young family allows it, is attempting to reduce his spectacularly high golf handicap.
David Rees
Partner of Davis Langdon
Davis Langdon is a leading building cost
consultancy. His specialisms are in Capital
Allowances tax reliefs and in the energy
performance of buildings. Within the firm’s
specialist services division, he is also their
head of healthcare.
Davis Langdon’s property tax team are the UK’s largest consultancy advising on tax relief issues and in his current role David has personally dealt with claims for tax relief totalling over £250m.
David is regular contributor to technical journals on tax relief and energy performance issues and is an adviser to the British Property Federation.

Adam Thompson
Director of Primary Healthcare

Adam Thompson has almost 20 years
experience in the healthcare sector.
Since 2007 he has led Colliers CRE's
primary care team.
Adam acts on behalf of numerous NHS trusts and doctors' practices to provide rental and capital valuations, as well as offering development advice for new medical centres. He also provides estate strategy advice to PCTs.
Prior to this he spent nine years at Vail Williams, latterly as partner. Adam began his career, and worked for eight years, at the Valuation Office Agency, so is a game keeper turned poacher.
Jim Mandeville
Jim has been a specialist medical accountant for over 21 years and is now an independent advisor and accountant for dispensing practices and he has phenomenal expertise in this area. He also advises on pharmacy matters, including assisting practices with applications. He is a mine of information, interestingly presented.
Peter Perry
Partner, Davies Mayers Barnett LLP
Peter has been advising GPs on their
medical property developments since
1993. Initially this was courtesy of an
educational grant from Astra on the
back of Losec, but now he has advised
in respect of approximately 80 GP-led schemes.
He says the key to obtaining a good VAT recovery is to get the basics right and not be too greedy.
